With 7.2 million people packed into just over 400-square miles, Hong Kong, the “Fragrant Harbor,” is one of the most densely populated metropolises in the world. For reference, that’s about four times the land area of Little Rock but with 36 times the number of people. With its limited space, Hong Kong is also one of the most vertical and architecturally modern cities in the world, boasting an impressive skyline.
As a former British colony, Hong Kong’s residents – called Hong Kongers – have a sense of style that’s a unique blend of East and West. With its large millennial population and highly developed public transit network, it’s an excellent place to people watch for fashion inspiration, so here are a few of my favorite examples of Hong Kong style.
The women of Hong Kong are certainly not afraid to show their personal fashion sense by mixing styles and textures. With mild winters by our standards, jackets worn over dresses or skirts are all the rage.
Not to be outdone by their female counterparts, Hong Kong men are also quite fashionable, with gents pairing classic blazers and top coats with graphic tees and boots.
